What is second-flush Darjeeling tea?
Darjeeling Second Flush is an experience of flavor and aroma worth cherishing. It is a full-bodied tea with a muscatel flavor and fruity finish. After Spring's burst of April showers, the tea bushes start flushing with two leaves and buds taut with flavor and nutrition. These orthodox-grade leaves are carefully handpicked during early summer months. They are the finest quality treasured for their yield of golden tippy to beautiful purplish blooms.
Darjeeling second flush tea leaves are harvested between May to June. That makes the 2nd flush so special is these tender leaves that are voluptuous with refined buds and a well-rounded flavor. A prolonged withering ensures the removal of 65% moisture and the leaves are gently rolled to preserve the flavor-packed polyphenols anti-oxidants.
